Vestibular / Balance Testing
Comprehensive Vestibular Assessment
Balance plays an important role in how we move, walk, stand, and interact with our surroundings. Problems within the vestibular system, which is closely connected to the inner ear, can sometimes contribute to dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, or difficulty maintaining balance.
At Equilibrium Hearing & Balance Center, we provide vestibular and balance assessment services to help evaluate balance-related concerns and provide information that can guide appropriate care and rehabilitation.
Comprehensive Vestibular Assessment
Video Nystagmography (VNG) is a specialized test used to evaluate the function of the vestibular system and help investigate certain balance and dizziness-related concerns.
During VNG testing, specialized video goggles are used to record eye movements while you perform a series of activities. Because eye movements are closely connected to the balance system, analyzing these movements can provide useful information about how the vestibular system is functioning.
VNG may form part of a comprehensive assessment for individuals experiencing dizziness, vertigo, or balance difficulties.
What To Expect
What Happens During VNG Testing?
01 — Initial Consultation
We begin by discussing your symptoms, medical history, and balance concerns. This helps us understand your individual situation and determine the appropriate assessment.
02 — Eye Movement Assessment
Specialized video goggles are used to record and analyze your eye movements during specific activities.
03 — Vestibular Evaluation
The recorded responses provide information that can help assess aspects of vestibular function.
04 — Results and Next Steps
Your results are reviewed and explained to you. Depending on the findings and your individual needs, further management or vestibular rehabilitation may be recommended.
